Elephants Are Not Birds - Book 1 - Ashley St. Clair

BRAVE Books & Ashley St. Clair
Art by Steliyana Doneva
BRAVE Books and Ashley St. Clair have partnered together to tackle the intense topic of gender in our book Elephants Are Not Birds, which follows the story of an Elephant named Kevin. Most can see that there is a distinct difference between an elephant and a bird but in this story, we'll see that even those lines are blurred when the lies of Culture the Vulture are accepted as truth.

Culture the Vulture convinces Kevin that his ability to sing is one that only birds have, so logically this means that he is a bird. The lies and logic from Culture the Vulture parallel what our culture is attempting to feed the youth of today. The story Elephants Are Not Birds arrives at a similar conclusion society will arrive at when it comes to the idea of gender identity, boys are not girls and elephants are not birds.

Great springboard for discussion

I have been searching for a way to teach my kids about capitalism vs. communism. This book was the perfect fit! My kids (ages 10 and 12) enjoyed this story and it led to a great discussion. I highly recommend The Island of Free Ice Cream book and a monthly subscription. Thank you for the work that you do! It is appreciated.

Loving these

My 4 year old is loving these books. His favorite part of the land of free icecream is when we saw our friend Kevin from the first book. He was so excited to see him in this book to help the rest of the animals defeat the wolves!

Refreshing to hear Truth

Hey Jack, Keep it up! I wanted to say thank you. You have a bigger impact than you think. I'm on zero social media sites but I can still view your Twitter feed for news and insight. You also turned me on to several new sites, Citizen Free Press for example. Podcast is also on point! There are plenty of others who have zero social media footprints who follow/listen. Your impact is bigger than any number would show. God bless you and your family, and God bless the USA.

All in for Capitalism!

My children LOVED this book and the activities at the end! The poster was a huge hit as well-- they're counting down the days until the next book arrives so they can collect more stickers and keep Freedom Island free! I enjoyed the book and activities as well. They did a wonderful job at illustrating the unfairness of a socialistic society. We're all in for capitalism!

Perfect addition to our library

We got this for our daughter (who is only 4 months old). We read this to her for store time and we’re blown away with the story, art, and activities. I immediately went to hang our new map in her room and can’t wait for her to grow up with these stories!
